Security when buying used cars

In Germany and  Western Europe approx. 30% of second-hand cars are offered for sales with “adjusted“ odometer readings

In eastern Europe in some regions it can reach up to 90%.

And what is the situation in the USA ?

For quite some time, it is an open secret not only but also in the USA, how car owners are able to manipulate an odometer. This leads to an increase of the retail price by hundreds, or even thousands of dollars.

Car manufactures claim, that their latest odometer technology is representing a challenge against manipulation, just like bank-notes. But this is not the case, hence those who commit the fraud, are always equipped with the latest technology, to crack and hack the system in a car.

The victim is always the innocent buyer and the dealer at least in Europe, have to bear full responsibility if the manipulation has been detected.
